Which plan do you actually need?

Start on Basic. It is free with no time limit, and for tracking day-to-day spending against a monthly budget it does the job properly. Two things it deliberately does not do: you cannot add your own categories, and you cannot import data back in — export works, but restoring a backup does not.

Premium makes sense the moment either of those limits bites. Your own categories, so the app matches how you actually spend. JSON import, so a backup can be restored on a new phone instead of starting over. On top of that: a PIN lock with encryption, separate cash/bank/card balances, and ten detailed report views.

Business makes sense if you budget category by category, track savings goals, or if someone else needs to read your numbers — an accountant, a CA at filing time, or a partner in the business. Excel and PDF export is a large part of why this tier exists.

Why one-time and not monthly?

Smart Budget Tracker runs entirely on your device. There is no server holding your data and no ongoing cost to cover, so charging you every month for software that is already sitting on your phone would be hard to justify. You pay once, and the edition you bought keeps working.

Your data is yours either way

Everything you enter is stored locally on your own device, and you can export it at any time. Business adds an optional encrypted backup you can restore on another device — it uses a free cloud storage account you set up yourself, so the file stays under your control.

Common questions

Is Basic really free forever?

Yes — no time limit, no trial period, no card required. Expense tracking, a total monthly budget and core reports, all stored locally.

Are these subscriptions?

No. Premium and Business are single one-time payments. There is nothing to cancel and no recurring charge.

What's the difference between Premium and Business?

Premium adds unlimited custom categories, JSON import so you can restore a backup, a PIN lock with encryption, multiple accounts and ten report views. Business adds category-wise budgets, savings goals, Excel and PDF export and encrypted cloud backup on top of that.

Can I use it on more than one device?

Yes — install it on as many of your own devices as you like. Data is stored on each device separately; Business adds encrypted backup and restore so you can move your records between them.

Can I move my data to a new phone?

Export your data at any time on any plan. Importing it back requires Premium or Business — Basic can export but not import. Business additionally offers encrypted cloud backup and restore.

How is the app delivered?

Immediately by email. You receive a licence key and a download link as soon as your payment is confirmed.
