Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Unitech Consultancy Services ("we", "us") handles information when you visit the Smart Budget Tracker website and when you use the Smart Budget Tracker applications (Basic, Premium, and Business editions, together the "Apps").

1. Your financial data stays on your device

The Apps are designed to be local-first:

• All transactions, budgets, categories, accounts, goals, and reports are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device. This data is never transmitted to us.
• In the Premium and Business editions, you can enable password protection, which encrypts your stored data with AES-256 encryption. The password and encryption key exist only on your device. We cannot recover your data if you forget your password, because we never have access to either.
• Files you export (JSON, CSV, Excel, or PDF) are generated on your device and saved wherever you choose. We never receive copies.

2. Information we do collect

• Contact form: if you write to us, we receive the name, email address, and message you provide, and we use them only to respond to you.
• Newsletter and free downloads: if you subscribe, request the free budget template, or download the free Basic edition through the sign-up form, we store the name and email address you provide so we can send occasional product updates. You can ask us to remove you at any time by emailing [email protected], and we will delete your details from the list.
• Purchases in Indian rupees: at checkout you give us your email address and mobile number. The mobile number is required by the payment gateway; the email address is where your licence key and download link are sent. Payment itself is processed by PhonePe Payment Gateway under its own privacy policy. We never see or store your card, UPI or banking details — those are entered on PhonePe's own pages, never on ours.
• International purchases: these are handled by Gumroad, which processes the payment and shares with us what is needed to fulfil your order, such as your email address and the product purchased. Gumroad's privacy policy applies to that process.
• Order and licence records: after a purchase we store your email address, the product bought, the order reference and the licence key issued to you. This record is kept in Cloudflare Workers KV, a storage service located on Cloudflare's network, and is used to re-send your licence if you lose it and to handle support and refund requests.
• Email delivery: the emails we send you — your licence key, download link, and replies to enquiries — are delivered through Resend, which processes your email address and message content for that purpose.
• Website analytics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure loading speed. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not identify you personally.

3. What we don't do

• We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone.
• We do not display third-party advertising.
• We do not collect analytics that identify you personally.
• We do not have access to the financial data inside the Apps — and cannot access it even if asked.

4. Cookies and local storage

Our website uses a small number of cookies and local-storage entries:

• Essential/preference storage: we remember choices such as your cookie-consent decision and theme preference. These stay in your browser.
• Embedded video: the demo video on our homepage is hosted on YouTube. It loads only after you press Play; at that point YouTube (Google) may set its own cookies under Google's privacy policy. If you never press Play, YouTube is not loaded.
• Fonts and libraries: the website and Apps load fonts and open-source libraries from content-delivery networks (Google Fonts, cdnjs). These providers may log technical data such as your IP address in order to serve the files.

You can decline non-essential cookies via the banner on our website, and you can clear all locally stored data at any time through your browser settings. Note that clearing site data for the Apps will delete your budget data too — export a backup first.

5. Data retention

Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your request. Newsletter and download-request details are kept until you ask us to remove them. Order and licence records are kept for as long as we support the product and for as long as tax and accounting rules in India require us to keep records of a sale. Download links expire automatically seven days after purchase. Data inside the Apps is retained on your device until you delete it (via "Clear All Data" / "Erase all data" in the App, or by clearing your browser storage).

6. Security

We rely on your device's security plus the optional AES-256 encryption in paid editions. We recommend enabling password protection if others share your computer, keeping regular JSON backups in a safe place, and using an up-to-date browser.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you (which is limited to what is described in section 2). To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable time. Because your financial data is stored only on your device, you can access, export, and delete it yourself at any time from within the Apps.

8. Children

The website and Apps are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date. Material changes will be highlighted on the website.
